L’Ancora

L’Ancora has been selling hot snacks and street food as well as being a delicatessen, bar and pastry shop since 1968. Located on the Strait of Messina, L’Ancora has been opening the doors of Sicily to anyone crossing the strait for business or pleasure since 1968.

A reference point not only on land, but also on board ‘Elio’, the ship that ferries thousands of commuters and tourists every day. Furthermore, since 2020, its hot snacks have also been present on all ships in the Strait of Messina (private and FS state railways).

The Arancino dello Stretto

The Arancino is a symbol of Sicily and its cuisine, being an ancient and delicious dish-a gastronomic archetype that has enchanted the Mediterranean for centuries.

The Arancino dello Stretto was inspired by the desire to bring this unique, gastronomic wonder to the whole world and, by the experience of those who, for over 50 years, have delighted citizens and tourists with the best specialties of the Messina cuisine.

Among the latest initiatives, a project to distribute its best-selling food products (such as the ‘arancino’)  – and other sicilian specialties – in the food service and large-scale retail channels (in Italy and abroad), where the packaged products will be distributed under their own brand in the following ways:

• frozen products;
• products produced in a modified atmosphere (MAP);
• packaged products stocked on shelves
